Still Waters - The Lily Pad Collection. By Jane Ruff
Jane Ruff
Jane Ruff's work is the product of a creative life shaped by place, experience, and an enduring curiosity about the world around her.
Her relationship with painting began in childhood and returned with renewed purpose in her 40s, beginning a decades-long journey through galleries, exhibitions, and art markets across North America. Along the way, Jane developed an instinctive style influenced by the landscapes, coastlines, communities, and people she encountered.
Working across watercolour, oil, acrylic, collage, and mixed media, her work ranges from evocative landscapes and seascapes to expressive florals and abstraction. Each piece often begins with something that captures her attention—a place, a memory, a colour, a feeling—and evolves from there.
Today, Jane creates largely for the love of the work, including her newest "abstract adventure." While she has stepped away from the traditional exhibition circuit, she occasionally creates pieces inspired by the stories and memories of others—a cherished place, a moment in time, or something simply too meaningful to forget.
For Jane, it's about continuing to explore, experiment, and create work that makes someone stop, remember, and feel something.
